Building on Excellence Capital Campaign
Concludes with Gala Celebration
The successful conclusion of Rye Country Day School’s Building on Excellence Capital Campaign was celebrated on campus at the Campaign Gala on Friday night, September 16th. More than 200 guests gathered in the tented courtyard and the new student lounge area of the Pinkham Building for a festive reception that was brimming with excitement and satisfaction.
After an hour of socializing, the guests were invited into a brief program in Memorial Hall, where Headmaster Scott Nelson welcomed them and then explained how the campaign goals had been determined by the Board of Trustees in 2004.
Current Board President Cynthia McClintock thanked the three previous board presidents involved with the capital campaign, Carmen Ribera-Thain ’75, Rick Segal, and Marlene DiChiacchio, and she noted that the original goal of $13 million was increased three times during the course of the campaign, finally arriving at $23 million. She pointed out that the goal was raised because of the incredible responsiveness of the RCDS community, especially during the campaign’s first three years. The Building on Excellence Capital Campaign, which ended on June 30, 2011, raised $26,452,000. After thanking the campaign’s Steering Committee and Ambassadors, the hundreds of donors, and Headmaster Scott Nelson, Ms. McClintock asked Campaign Co-Chairs Debbie Hutchins and Beth Stevens Rattner to come forward to be recognized for their outstanding leadership.
In a brief presentation, Ms. Rattner then reviewed each campaign goal and the total funds raised, noting specifically how each goal strengthened the School, and Ms. Hutchins reiterated thanks for the Steering Committee’s leadership, and most especially thanked the 106 individuals who served as Campaign Ambassadors. She also expressed thanks for the tireless efforts and dedicated support of the RCDS Development Office.
